Pinewood Derby '08

I love that Steve will always like to help the boys with their derby cars. This year he said, it isn't about winning, it is about how cool the car looks. Steve put 2 derby kit cars together to make an ultra wide version. He even bought a couple of special saws to make it just right. He started before our trip, then had two days to finish up when we got home. He worked feverishly, let me just say, it was a good thing we still had Jackson's car from last year, guess which one met the weight and size limit, not Steve's new car! He even took a drill to the church with him to drill holes out of the bottom to make it lighter, didn't work, we ran the old car. Good thing Jackson is super easy-going! The guy who the ward pays to come run the derby is soooo serious about it as you will notice in the pictures!

It is pretty hard to get very creative with cars within the parameters they give, isn't it? I'm glad Jackson had the old car to fall back on, but the new one is very stylish. :)
