I was asked to lead the music at a "Baptism Preview Night" the ward had for the kids turning 8 this year. First of all, I love to sing, but I can't read music and I have never led in front of anyone, ever! I had one day's notice and was assigned two brand new to Primary baptism songs, so I practiced my heart out. When we got there last night, the Primary Pres. said, "We don't have a pianist, she can't come, so it's going to be acappella!" ...The only word I can think of to describe the experience is ATROCIOUS! First of all, no one knew the songs at all! Just a room of about 25 people who don't work in Primary, the leaders didn't help out much either! So I was up there, singing a solo, trying to read the words (I had just read over them a few times) and, leading very poorly at the same time! In the first song, I started with a 4/4 and finished in a 2/4, not once on the beat! Everyone kindly sang, but only had words and no music, so I was the only one singing any kind of tune! Never again I say, never again! (I've included one of the songs l had to lead, recognize it? Not many did!)

Waitta make you want to come back and lead again huh? lol I would agree that would be a nightmare without a piano there. Hey, at least it was just a primary thing right?
what a nightmare! This would be my personal nightmare too. I never want to be up attempting to lead music. I love music, but have NO music abilities, unlike the rest of my family.
Good to know, Brandon's baptism is coming up. I will avoid all phone calls that might relate to something like that. Evil me.
Wow, they really want you to lead music in your ward bad! That sounds frightning! I'm glad it is over for you.
